Today on Snippet Stories, let’s take a new turn, stay with me.
Have you ever considered the lion and how it hunts its prey? The lion is a wild creature of the field… Embracing strength, boldness, patience as well as courage. A lion is indeed the king of the jungle. The lion with its sharp teeth and claws is considerably good at hunting by hiding and it is a captivating animal, phenomenally patient. Lions are skilled in hunts and stalks in coordinated groups. They attack their prey when they are as close as possible having watch from a distance how to disintegrate a flock, majorly targeting the old, sick/wounded or the baby.
The lion is not a fast animal per say but by contrast it hunts very fast animals. One distinctive feature I particularly like the lion for is its courage. The lion can hunt an animal that’s even thrice its size! How spectacular! That’s daunting courage!
Now liken the lion to humans and our inability to be fearless from the harsh realities of life. We live a life that paints pictures of untold hardships, difficult times etc and we lack courage to push through these times. For some of us, we are on hunt to find our treasures but we lack the shield of faith as well as courage.
Courage is the ability and willingness to confront fear, pain, danger, uncertainty or intimidation. It is the quality of mind that enables a person to face difficulty. Some of us have barely reached the peak of the hunt before we gave up, either too tired, too discouraged or too lazy.
Take a look at David defeating Goliath. It takes a lot of courage and dertermination. Social activists like Martin Luther King and Nelson Mandela couldn’t have made it that far as respectable public figures without courage, also entrepreneurs like Mark Zukerberg, Steve Jobs. it’s that drive that moves you out of your comfort zone, it is what zero in the lion to brace up for the kill.. Now the question is… What are you hunting for and where lies thy courage?
Here are ways to define and harness your own courage:
– Feeling fear yet choosing to act.
‘Courage is about doing what you are afraid to do. There can be no courage unless you are scared. Have the courage to act instead of react.’ Oliver Wendall Holmes.
– Following your heart, no matter the fiery darts.
– Persevering in the face of adversity. ‘Courage doesn’t always roar.
Sometimes courage is the little voice at the end of the day that says I’ll try again tomorrow’. Mary Ann Radmacher.
– Standing up for what is right. ‘Speak your mind even if your voice shakes’ Maggie khun
– Expanding your horizon, letting go of the familiar.
‘Man cannot discover new oceans without first looking sight of the shore. Lord Chesterfield.
– Facing suffering with dignity of faith. ‘ A man of courage is also full of faith’ Marcus Tillius Cicero
So in that place where you find courage and are like the lion, I hope to see you.
