Act One, Scene One
In the scene, Mr Kola is just back from his shop, he looks very tired and restless and beckons his wife to give him food, he sat on the worn out sofa of his room and parlour apartment with a loud thump.
MR KOLA: Abeni, you won’t believe it, have lost
my shop! They came in today from the council and demanded for those papers and i don’t have it so they locked it up.
WIFE: (arranges the table for the food) ah! What do we do.Have you
MR KOLA: First thing tomorrow, i will go to see Chief, he has
to help me.
CHIEF: Tinu! Tinu! Go and open the door, someone is knocking.
Tinu, chief’s wife dropped the dishes on the table and went to open the door, Mr Kola came in and prostrated before chief, chief welcomed him.
MR KOLA: Chief i need your help urgently
CHIEF: am about to eat, please join me.
MR KOLA: er, Chief, this matter is about my shop.
CHIEF: come! Relax, after the meal.
Mr Kola joined in the meal, barely halfway through the meal, another knock on the door, Tinu quickly rushed to open the door. A man came in, greeted chief and pleaded to see him urgently. In some few minutes, the man left with a paper shouting thanks to chief who resumed his eating.
The table is cleared, Mr Kola proceeds to what he came there for.
MR KOLA: Chief,am in trouble, my shop, the other day, it was said…
CHIEF: Kola, go straight to the point.
MR KOLA: Sir, i need the Council accredited form for my shop.
CHIEF: Oh Why! The man that came in while we eating, i just gave the last one out.
